Welcome and Call to Worship Rev. Josh Brewer
All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to God.
All the families of the nations shall bow down and worship.
God has not ignored or despised the afflicted.
God’s face is not hidden; every human cry is heard.
All you who revere God, give praise!
Let the children of God give honor and glory!
I will tell your name to my sisters and brothers.
In the midst of the congregation I will praise you.
During this reflective season of Lent, the Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Invocation Dr. Howard Pendley
†*Hymn No. 263 - “Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise” st. denio
*Affirmation of Faith
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
*The Gloria Patri No. 579
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
World without end. Amen. Amen.

Second Lesson - Ephesians 2:4-9
Anthem - “In All Our Grief and Fear We Turn to You” Charles R. Anders
In all our grief and fear we turn to you.
O God, you know all that we think or do,
You know the pain we put each other through.
Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, grant us peace.
Help us to put aside the angry word,
The clenching fist, the wish and will to hurt.
Teach us the way in which love best is served.
Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, grant us peace.
You did not even spare your only Son.
He lived our griefs and bore all evil done,
But through his cross redemption has been won.
Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, grant us peace.
God, when we suffer all that we can bear,
Then let us know that you in truth are near
And will not leave us lost in all our fear.
Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, grant us peace.
(The text is by Sylvia G. Dunstan.)

Call to Prayer
Silent Prayers (with piano music)
Congregational Confession
God our Redeemer, we confess that we are people of ashes and dust. You have claimed us in your covenant, yet we forget your steadfast love. You seek us out in the wilderness, yet we continue to wander in our sin. Forgive us, God of grace. Wash us clean once again, so that we may return to you and follow your holy way; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Words of Assurance
Pastoral Prayer
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
