Contemporary Classics May 14, 2019 - Composer Eliot Britton and World Premiere of "Music for Trains"

Tonight is a particularly special episode of Contemporary Classics.  We have a “Composer Conversation” with Canadian composer Eliot Britton.  We will explore Eliot’s development as a composer and his work “Metatron”.  “Metatron” is a brilliant work that takes us through the musical history of the 20th and 21st centuries in an interesting way.

In addition we open this episode with a recording of the world premiere of “Music for Trains”.  This is an electro-acoustic work by a group of faculty and students from the Desautels Faculty of Music of the University of Manitoba which was commissioned by the Winnipeg New Music Festival and performed in the rotunda of the Union Station in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.  And we talk with each of the composers involved in this work.  This work is in 5 parts:  Chris Love - "Sibilance Exbreath"; Ross Bugden - "Attic";     Orjan Sandred - The Golden Spike;  Anatol Rennie - Echoes;  and Nolan Hildebrand: waiting

We are closing tonight's episode with two works by Kara-Lis Coverdale:  "Disney" from her album with LXV "Sirens"  and "Nu_Chanic" from her album  "Aftertouches"
