Thought Experiments in Philosophy

Inspired by books like Would You Kill the Fat Man? by David Edmonds and What If ... Collected Thought Experiments in Philosophy by Peg Tittle, this week Leigh and P. T. explore philosophical thought experiments with Dr. Jack Simmons, professor of philosophy at Georgia Southern University. A thought experiment tests a hypothesis by examining its consequences, without necessarily performing it. Schrodinger’s Cat is the most famous thought experiment, but others abound, exercises that examine and challenge our personal philosophies and sets of morals.

Jack Simmons is a professor of philosophy at Georgia Southern University (Armstrong). He was educated at Louisiana State and received his PhD from Tulane. His research interests include the philosophy of visual media and information science, and media ethics. He has written several academic papers and one novel, Three Dashes Bitters.
