Art on the Air September 11th, 2019 with Jorge Montero, Rachael Flora, & Sounds of Starland

On this week's broadcast of Art on the Air we welcomed Jorge Montero into the studio! His exhibition "The Laughter After" is currently on-view at Cork House Gallery!

Here's what he has to say about this project:

"We are visual creatures. As fast as lightning bolt, we respond to visual elements that abruptly can make us turning to specific moods. These series of work represent my exploration on line, as a way to create emotional impact on viewers. These exaggerated depictions of faces are intended to penetrate, as visual splashes, into spectators’ minds and provide a refreshing visual breeze that remains there for a while.
At the same time, I finally moved into the transition from simple and clean ink strokes on paper to expressive, explosive, sometimes messy and hard to control strong brush strokes on canvas.
Those kinds of drawings that I have been creating for many years on paper worked as training and mental skeleton to be not just captured but transferred and translated to another kind of visual world.
I hope you enjoy the outcome of this new journey that I am going through as I do."

Plus we grabbed a Field Note with Rachael Flora talking all about Connect Savannah's special Fall Arts Preview issue, which hit newsstands this week. AND we spoke with Chenyi "Charlie" Sun, Cora Morris, Zara Bell, Katie Glusica, and Deborah First during last week's First Friday in Starland!

Finally, co-host David Laughlin bid his farewell as he steps away as co-host of the show. He will be missed!
