A dark room can be lit by just one candle. Light is that powerful as it pushes away darkness. Today churches all over the world will light the candle of hope from two weeks ago, as well as the Bethlehem Candle or candle of love from last week. Both candles are purple. On this third Sunday of Advent we light the pink (or rose) candle. Changing from purple to pink signifies the transition in Advent from repentance to celebration. The pink candle is also called the "Shepherds Candle" and represents joy.
