E02: HSF Ryan Arvay

In this episode, we dig deeper to understand the history of the city and begin to meet more of the people who have contributed to its preservation and character.

Our guest this week is Ryan Arvay, Director of Preservation & Historic Properties with the Historic Savannah Foundation. In this capacity, Ryan manages the Revolving Fund and the Historic Easements programs. The HSF Revolving Fund is one of the oldest programs of its kind in the U.S. and one of only 30 such programs active today. The Revolving Fund uses the money to purchase blighted, vacant, and often endangered historic homes; secures them; finds preservation-minded buyers who commit to restoring them; and then sells the home with an easement on the property. The money from the sale goes back into the fund to save more homes, stabilize neighborhoods, and help generate additional value and reinvestment.
