E03: Friends of Forsyth

A few years ago, Trustees’ Garden Club initiated a multi-year legacy project called the Forsyth Park Project. The two most important elements are a master plan for the park and the park's designation as a National Historic Landmark.

The Plan will provide comprehensive guidelines for action and establish a Forsyth Park vision for decades to come.

Creating a Master Plan to act as a guideline for the use and development of the park is an important way to protect this precious asset while also allowing it to evolve to meet the demands of modern life.

City elected officials and staff, along with many advocates, have been involved in the project from the beginning. All citizens are invited to offer their perspective on what they feel are the most important aspects of the park to preserve and to share ideas on the enhancements they would like to see considered in the future.

Our guest to discuss the Forsyth Park initiative is Eleanor Rhangos of the Trustees' Garden Club and Co-Chair of the Forsyth Master Plan Project. A native Savannahian, Eleanor spent 21 years in the financial services business in New York and San Francisco before entering the non-profit sector as a consultant in Atlanta.  A marketing and communications professional with broad-based experience in branding, product development, strategic communications, events, and creative services, she now enjoys bringing this experience to her work as a community volunteer.

Eleanor and her husband Dan live Downtown in the Historic District with their rescue cat Luna and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Genevieve.  They have a daughter Audrey who lives in Los Angeles.
