MLK Day Special: Songs of Protest

You are listening to a special celebration of the memory of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on the day set aside to remember Dr. King. Martin Luther King Jr. once said: " Music clearly played a starring role in the civil rights movement. People marched to freedom songs while artists from Sam Cooke to Dylan took the message to the masses in recordings as enduring as "A Change is Gonna Come" and "Blowin' in the Wind.”.  And the struggles that Martin Luther King Jr began we are still fighting today and chief among them are social injustice and economic injustice.  So lets raise up the songs of the past and the songs of the present to fight injustice in all forms.
