February 6, 2024: The Music & Message of Bob Marley

Today would have been Bob Marley's 79th birthday.   Marley was born and brought up in Jamaica, a western European colonized Caribbean Island, a son of a white father and black mother.  He lived in in the country growing food and in the poverty of Trenchtown, an area of Kingston.   Marley brought these experiences to his music.  His lyrics speak of hope, love, joy in a world where messages of despair, hopelessness, and hate can be found everywhere.  I urge you to take time to listen to this show, and also to Marley's music of life, of redemption, of love.
