Welcome to “well, That’s Show Biz!”. I am your host, Jeremy Freedman, and every week I bring you music from Broadway, Movies, and Entertainers along with some anecdotes, information, and commentary all based on a theme.
Today’s theme is about Remembering. Every song contains a memory, some recent, some deeply embedded. One thing I like about a theme like this is that I get to play songs that I may never have played on this show.
We are going to start our remembrances with Robert Goulet singing the title song to the Kander and Ebb musical, The Happy Time. Next, we will hear “Ring of Keys” from Fun Home as a young lesbian remembers the first time she sees an openly queer woman. Then we will hear “Momma Look Sharp” from 1776 as soldiers think back on their last battle. And we will finish the set with Liza Minnelli singing the title song from the film version of Cabaret. Here’s The Happy Time.
We are playing songs about Remembering today and you just heard the title song to The Happy Time, “Ring of Keys” from Fun Home, “Momma Look Sharp” from 1776, and the title song from Cabaret.
Starting off our second set of Remembering we have the song “Remember” from A Little Night Music. After that, Ray Walston who plays the devil will remind us that “Those Were the Good Old Days” from the original production of Damn Yankees. Then Maurice Chevalier and Hermione Gingold will trade remembrances with “I Remember It Well” from Gigi. And we end with “At the Ballet” from A Chorus Line. Here’s “Remember” from A Little Night Music.

Songs about Remembering is our theme today. Every song contains memories, some recent and some deeply rooted.
We begin our third set with Angela Lansbury singing “I Don’t Want to Know” from Jerry Herman’s Dear World. We will follow that with Steve Martin singing “Dentist!” from the film version of Little Shop Of Horrors. Then we will go back to The Happy Time and Robert Goulet singing “I Don’t Remember You”. And we will conclude with “Turn It Off” from The Book Of Mormon. Here’s “I Don’t Want to Know” from Dear World.

We are going to conclude today’s show about Remembering with two songs that have become Broadway classics. First, “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserable and we will finish with the song you probably anticipated, “Memory” from Cats. Enjoy.
