Metropolitan Opera Saturday Matinee - December 28, 2024 - HANSEL AND GRETEL

The Metropolitan Opera’s 2024-25 season of Saturday matinee radio broadcasts continues with a festive performance from Christmas Day, 1982: Hansel and Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck. The beloved fairy tale, sung in English, starred Met favorites Frederica von Stade and Judith Blegen as the resourceful children – and the legendary Rosalind Elias as the Witch. Thomas Fulton conducted the Met Orchestra and Children’s Chorus in Humperdinck’s sumptuous, folk-inspired score. Hansel and Gretel will be heard over the Robert K. Johnson Foundation-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 1:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, December 28.
