Welcome to “well, That’s Show Biz!”. I am your host, Jeremy Freedman, and each week I bring you music from Broadway, Movies, and Entertainers along with some anecdotes, information, and commentary all based on a theme.
Today’s show was pre-recorded.
Today is National Do Dah Day. What is that you ask? It is a “Salute to Silliness”.
<Play “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”>
You just heard “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” from Mary Poppins, our first salvo in our “Salute to Silliness” for Do Dah Day. Today we will be playing songs with nonsense or silly lyrics.
We are going to open our first set with the song “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” from Walt Disney’s Cinderella. We will follow that with Danny Kaye singing the tale of “The Maladjusted Jester” from The Court Jester. Then we will hear “Octopus Song” from the Broadway musical Fanny. And we will close this set with “We Go Together” from Grease. Here’s “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” from Disney’s Cinderella.

We are playing songs with nonsense words or silly content today for National Do Dah Day and we are going to open this next set with “I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major General” from The Pirates of Penzance. The way this cut was recorded, it is followed by dialog. After that, we will hear “Backstage Babble” from the musical Applause which is the musical version of the movie All about Eve. Then we will listen to Madeline Kahn declaring “I’m Tired” from the film Blazing Saddles. And we will conclude this set with “Good Morning Starshine” from Hair.
