April 29, 2025: May Day Solidarity

Can we bring back the solidarity of May Day, International Workers Day around the world, but just another day in the USA?   Co-hosts Two and Barbara welcomed Cesar to Voices of Reason and Resistance to talk about the state of working class people in the USA--a minimum wage that has not been increased since 2009 despite double digit increases in the costs of essentials--housing, food, medical care, education, transportation.

Cesar, a member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), agreed that this is a difficult time in the USA for working class and poor people, but sees hope with the youth who are not afraid to look at alternatives to capitalism and the commodification of our basic essentials, as well as socialist countries, such as his native Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, that model alternatives but are demonized by the USA..

PSL has been active in Savannah, promoting a number of issues, such as support for Palestine, protection of migrants from the abuses of ICE, and workers' rights.  They are hosting a discussion of the book Socialist Reconstruction beginning Thursday, May 8 at Your Space Collective, 2202 W. Bay Street, at 4 pm and all are welcomed.  The book can be purchased at 1804 books.
