Welcome to “well, That’s Show Biz!”. I am your host, Jeremy Freedman, and each week I bring you music from Broadway, Movies, and Entertainers along with some anecdotes, information, and commentary all based on a theme.
Today’s show was pre-recorded.
Today’s show is dedicated to rock, pop, and punk covers of Broadway songs.
Our first set will begin with The Beatles’ cover of “Till There Was You” originally from Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man. We will follow that with the Irish boy band, Boyzone, singing “No Matter What” originally from Andrew Lloyd Weber’s musical Whistle Down the Wind. Then, Dee Snyder, from Twisted Sister, put out an album called Dee does Broadway. We are going to hear the first selection off of this album, the title song to Kander and Ebb’s Cabaret. And we will end this first set with the punk/pop/rock group, Blondie, with lead singer Deborah Harry, singing “Follow Me” originally from Lerner and Loewe’s Camelot. Here are The Beatles with “Till There Was You”.
