December 16, 2025: Talking Trash and Recycling

Charles Stewart of ABC Waste & Recycling joined hosts Opollo, Robo and Barbara to talk about two of the important actions we would take as President for a day--conserving the environment and reducing the waste stream.

Charles explained the single-stream recycling systems in Chatham County and surrounding areas, and how the recyclables are sorted at his company and transported for reuse.  He explained that the full participation of the people, as well as adherence to the recycling rules.  Companies provide the greatest amount of trash and recycling and these companies also need to follow the rules regarding recycling to minimize the amount of waste to be landfilled.  Due to single-stream recycling, items not eligible for recycling make it more difficult to sort recyclables collected and sorted for transport for reuse.

Charles explained that landfills are highly regulated by the government to prevent the leaching of toxins into our waters.  It was great to talk trash with Charles, and we encouraged listeners to recycle only items permitted, not plastic bags, styrofoam, or plastics above #3 to make the sorting work as it should.

Thanks you Charles for coming on VoR and talking trash.

We also talked about how the manufacturing of products impedes both its shelf-life and ability to be repaired to extend its life.  This addresses another of our issues--control of government by corporations, control that must come back to the people.

Our schedule for the next few weeks has changed due to the holidays so please stay tuned. in.
