Welcome to “well, That’s Show Biz!”. I am your host, Jeremy Freedman, this is the show that brings you music from Broadway, Movies, and Entertainers along with some anecdotes, information, and commentary all based on a theme.
Today’s show was pre-recorded.
And welcome to the first show of 2026 and our theme of Beginnings. Every song today deals with Beginnings in some way.
And so we begin our opening set with the quintessential song about Beginnings, “Open a New Window” from Mame. We will follow that with the opening song from the 2019 revival of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s first collaboration, Oklahoma!, “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning”. And we will end this set with Julie Andrews telling the children “Let’s start at the very beginning” as she teaches them how to sing in “Do-Re-Mi” from The Sound Of Music. Here’s Angela Lansbury with “Open a New Window”.
