  • You just heard “Hooray for Hollywood” performed by its songwriters Richard Whiting and Johnny Mercer for tonight is the Oscars ceremony for 2026.

  • As I have done the past few years, we will end the show with the 5 songs nominated for Best Original Song so you can judge for yourself. And we will begin by playing the Oscar winning songs by decade starting with the year 1936. As we go through the decades, you can experience the change in musical tastes through the years.

  • For our first set, we have Fred Astaire singing the 1936 winner, “The Way You Look Tonight” from the movie Swing Time. We will follow that with the 1946 winner from The Harvey Girls, “On the Atchison, Topeka, and the Santa Fe”. And we will close this first set with Doris Day singing her hit version of the song “Que Sera, Sera” which she sang in the 1956 Hitchcock film, The Man Who Knew Too Much. Here we go, the 1936 Oscar winner, “The Way You Look Tonight”.
