  • Welcome to “well, That’s Show Biz!”. I am your host, Jeremy Freedman, and every week I bring you music from Broadway, Movies, and Entertainers along with some anecdotes, information, and commentary all based on a theme.

  • You just heard “Little April Shower” from Walt Disney’s classic animated film Bambi which is our lead in for Earth Day 2026 which is officially this Wednesday, April 22nd.

  • Earth Day is a reminder for us to take care of the Earth. We learn about our environment and such things as beneficial farming and gardening techniques, forestry, and human influenced climate change. Today’s show showcases all of that.

  • We begin our first set with Angela Lansbury and company bringing us the title song from Jerry Herman’s Dear World. We follow that with “I Remember” from Stephen Sondheim’s Evening Primrose. And we end the set with “River In The Rain” from Big River. Here’s Angela Lansbury and Dear World.

  • Wednesday is Earth Day for 2026 and you just heard the title song from Dear World, “I Remember” from Evening Primrose, and “River In The Rain” from Big River.

  • April 22nd is Earth Day so we are celebrating early. We are going to open this set with “Hurry! It’s Lovely Up Here” from On a Clear Day You Can See Forever as Daisy Gamble uses her psychic powers to make plants grow. After that we will hear the song “Wick” from The Secret Garden. We will follow that with one of my favorite songs, “I Belong Here”, from Jerry Herman’s The Grand Tour. And we will close the set with “Good Morning Starshine” from the film version of Hair. Here’s “Hurry! It’s Lovely Up Here” from On a Clear Day You Can See Forever.

  • You just heard “Hurry! It’s Lovely Up Here” from On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, “Wick” from The Secret Garden, “I Belong Here”, from The Grand Tour, and “Good Morning Starshine” from Hair as we celebrate Earth Day 3 days early today on “well, That’s Show Biz!”.

  • Wednesday, April 22, is Earth Day and so our theme today is to focus on the Earth.

  • For this set we have Judy Kuhn singing “Colors of the Wind” from Disney’s Pocahontas. Then we will hear “Africa Calling” from the award winning children’s album One Size Fits All by Danny Adlerman and friends. Full disclosure, Danny is my former music partner. And we will finish with Juanita Hall and “Bali Ha’i” from the original Broadway cast recording of South Pacific. Here’s “Colors of the Wind”.

  • We are celebrating Earth Day today and there will be one last song after this two song set that I think you’ll want to hear. First we have John Cullum with the title song from On a Clear Day (You Can See Forever) and then Tom Lehrer gives us his satirical take on “Pollution”. Here’s “On a Clear Day You Can See Forever”.

  • You just heard the title song from On a Clear Day (You Can See Forever) and Tom Lehrer’s satirical song “Pollution”.

  • If you’ve never heard Michael Jackson’s “Earth Song” or especially seen his powerful video of the song, listen carefully. The song is about all of the damage that we are doing to the Earth such as destroying the rain forests, killing endangered species, and climate change but also that we have the power to reverse all of this damage if we only had the courage and resolve to do so. Here is Michael Jackson and “Earth Song”.

  • You just heard Michael Jackson and “Earth Song” which traditionally ends our Earth Day celebration. Earth Day is Wednesday, April 22.

  • And that concludes this week’s edition of “well, That’s Show Biz!”. If you would like to assist with a future show, send your theme and song suggestions to me at wruushowbiz@gmail.com.
