Tonight on Evening Eclectic I am talking with Idith Meshulam Korman & Cayenna Ponchione-Bailey about their new album Martines- The Complete Keyboard Works which was released this past Friday April 17th on Signum Classics. Marianna Martines was one of the most celebrated musicians of eighteenth-century Vienna and the favored four-hand piano partner of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Martines was esteemed by her contemporaries as a skillful composer, keyboard player, singer, educator, and notably also as a noted salonnière in Vienna. Although her piano forehands partner’s music is heard continuously throughout the world Martines’ music is absent from concert halls. This album is one attempt to help correct that situation.
