June 30, 2026: What is to be done with the USA?

From its beginning in 1607 to its declaration of independence in 1776 to today, June 30, 20216, Voices of Resistance asks:  what is to be done with the USA?  After more 420 years that began with the theft of life and land from the indigenous and theft of people from Africa to be enslaved, driven by imperialism, capitalism, militarism, and the racialization of resources, can this country be saved?  Should this country be saved?

VoR hosts discussed the state of the USA after independence was declared to 2026:  wars of aggression achieved Manifest Destiny in 1848 and beyond with the acquisition of Puerto Rico, Guam, the Philippines, and Hawaii and control of Cuba; from its founding in 1776 through 2026, the United States has been engaged in armed conflict or military action for 229 of its 249 years or 92% of its existence, the top 50% of its people control 97% of its wealth, households with a black made up 13.6% of all U.S. households but held only 4.7% of all wealth, in 2024 8% of persons had no health insurance at any time during that year, nearly one million people are homeless and 33% of households are housing vulnerable or cost-burdened, paying more than 30& of their income on rent.  Meanwhile, the USA spends roughly $954 billion on military operations, 3.2% of GDP.  The mainstream media propagandize us into believing that we must expend these funds to protect ourselves from terrorists afar and within our borders.

So what is to be done?  We discussed a number of strategies to take back our government for, by and of the people including coming together in community, engaging in re-education to resist the media propaganda, uniting behind those advocating for change and holding them accountable for their promises, learning about candidates for local, state and federal office and voting and, if necessary, following in the footsteps of those who came before us to rebel and revolt.

Next week, we welcome Pace Goodway, a Medicare Navigator, to assist us to find "affordable" healthcare.
