• You just heard “Epiphany” from Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Just before this song, Sweeney had almost succeeded in his revenge against Judge Turpin. After losing the Judge, Sweeney’s Obsession comes out full center with this song. This week’s theme is Obsession.

• We begin this first set with John Cullum and a before he was famous Kevin Kline obsessing over their female lead in On The Twentieth Century with the song “Mine”. Then we will hear Jud sing “Lonely Room” from Oklahoma!. And we will end this set with “El Tango De Roxanne” from Moulin Rouge! The Musical. Here’s “Mine” from On The Twentieth Century.

And we will go back to Sweeney Todd for the third version of the song “Johanna” as every character is obsessed with something. Here’s “Marian the Librarian” from The Music Man.

And we will end this set with Frank Sinatra singing the Cole Porter song originally made famous by Fred Astaire in the 1932 musical, Gay Divorce. Here’s “The Moon and Me” from The Addams Family.

Then Terrence Mann as Javert obsesses over Jean Valjean in the song “Stars” from Les Miserables. And finally, Terrence Mann again, this time as The Beast, obsesses over Belle with the song “If I Can’t Have Her” from Beauty and the Beast. Remember, we have one last song after this set. Ten years after the events in The Phantom of the Opera, The Phantom finds himself in Coney Island, New York, still obsessing over Christine with “Till I Here You Sing”.
