Contemporary Classics August 11, 2026 Mary Kouyoumdjian - Paper Pianos
Tonight on Contemporary Classics I have a return visit from Mary Kouyoumdjian whose new album Paper Pianos hauntingly explores the journeys and obstacles refugees confront as they uproot lives and livelihoods, families and friendships, in search of safer harbors. This album is done in collaboration with South African-American director and writer Nigel Maister and the GRAMMY® Award-winning ensemble Alarm Will Sound conducted by Alan Pierson. Paper Pianos was released last Friday, August 7th on Cantaloupe Music.
