June 9, 2018, Savannah-WomenHeart Champions, former Mayor Edna Jackson & Murem Sharpe
WomenHeart Champions are members of WomenHeart, the leading national coalition of women heart patients that educates, supports and advocates for women with heart disease — the #1 killer of women. WomenHeart Champions, former Mayor Edna Jackson and Murem Sharpe, were in the studio to discuss the advancement of heart-health education for women with heart disease and at risk of developing heart disease. They were trained at the WomenHeart Science and Leadership Symposium at the renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, joining over 800 WomenHeart Champions nationwide. Women heart patients who participate in the monthly WomenHeart Support Network meetings are considered, “Heart Sisters.” WomenHeart of Savannah provides free support groups for patients, and heart-health education for all women during hospital visits with patients, at health fairs and through talks at organizations throughout the Savannah area. WomenHeart of Savannah recently added Support Network meetings in Hinesville. We encourage you listen to this broadcast to learn more about this very important issue of heart disease affecting women in the coastal empire.
