Forgiveness Pt. 2

Scripture of the day- Samuel 16:7-But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Quote of the day- People hurt each other. It happens to everyone, intentionally and unintentionally, regretfully or not. It is a part of what we do as people. The beauty is that we have the ability to heal and forgive. - Adi Alisaid

Positive word of the day- tenacious- tending to keep a firm hold of something; clinging or adhering closely, to be determined

Be Tenacious

Adapted from the resource The Confident Woman - by Joyce Meyer

When David came against Goliath, he didn’t stand for hours looking at the giant wondering how to win the battle. The Bible says that he ran quickly to the battle line, all the time talking about the greatness of God and declaring his victory ahead of time. David didn’t run away from his giant— he courageously ran toward him.

Robert Schuller said, “If you listen to your fears, you will die never knowing what a great person you might have been.”

If David had run from Goliath, he would never have been king of Israel. He was anointed by God to be king twenty years before he wore the crown. During those years he faced his giants and proved that he had the tenacity to endure difficulty without quitting.

Did David feel any fear as he approached Goliath? I think he did. In David’s writings he never claimed to be free from the feelings of fear, but he chose to do it afraid, and God honored his faith!

Prayer Starter: Father, I know I have some giants that I need to face... please help me to be tenacious and to do it afraid. Thank You for having my back in every battle. In Jesus’ Name, amen.

We must forgive for ourselves. Not forgiving someone is like walking around with a sack of potatoes.

Don't let someone else's bad behavior ruin your life. Put them in God's hands and he will fix it. She said God can do wonderful things in a relationship if we let go of bitterness.

When you're hurting really bad alot of times we want to repay every person that comes along.

Joyce mentioned she was sexually abused by her father, and was trying to make her husband pay for what her father did, but she didn't realize that she was hindering herself. She realized that you can't collect from people what they can't pay you. Her father took her innocence and childhood, but even if he wanted to he wouldn't be able to give her back what he took. All he could ask for is forgiveness and apologize. What else could he do?

Matthew 18:25-27- That's what it is like to forgive someone, you let it go even if they do owe you something. If God has cancelled your debt why do we feel as if we are too good to cancel someone else's

The servant went out and didn't show mercy and mercy was just given to him. How does that work?

Whoever has hurt you, they cannot pay you back. They can only say their sorry and try to make it right.

Has someone tried to make it right with you,but you still keep holding on?

Are you holding anything against anyone? We tend to hold things against people, but want forgiveness when we do wrong ourselves. Isn't that kind of hypocritical?

We may say God its too hard to forgive them, Joyce said God doesn't ask us to do something that is too hard for us. If you don't forgive, its simply because you don't want to.

Be the first to make peace and it proves you are more mature spiritually.

God can pay you back what was taken from you, but people can't.

** Tomorrow I will cover what the process will feel  like after you have forgiven someone and the benefits behind forgiving someone. "Forgiveness activates faith.
