Today's Four Centuries of Great Music is the fourth episode of the series Four Centuries of the String Quartet.  On the last episode of Four Centuries of Great Music we ended with the first two movements of Mendelssohn's String Quartet No. 6 in F minor, Op. 80.  We are opening this week with the last two movements of this work.

We progress to Max Bruch: String Quartet No. 2 in E Major, Op. 10.

Then Brahms: String Quartet #2 In A Minor, Op. 51/2

Followed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky String Quartet No. 1 in D Major, Op. 11

And we conclude with the first movement of Edvard Grieg’s String Quartet No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 27.
