Savannah Music Local and Sustainable May 11, 2022 Anne Acker
Tonight on Savannah Music Local and Sustainable I am talking with Anne Acker about the Savannah Baroque concert coming up on May 22, 2022 called "Into the Light" at 3 p.m. at the Collegiate Church of St. Paul the Apostle, Episcopal Church at 1802 Abercorn St. in Savannah, GA.
Savannah's only period instrument ensemble, Savannah Baroque is delighted to celebrate the return of in person concerts, springtime, and bring Into The Light great works by extraordinary women composers of the 17th and 18th centuries. Highly regarded and well known in their own times, their works were dismissed by 19th century scholars, which perpetuated into the 20th century. Savannah Baroque's singers and instrumentalists will present works by Isabella Leonarda, Anna Bon, Francesca Caccini, Maria Hester Park, Mary Harvey, Wilhelmine von Bayreuth, and Mary Young Barthélemon.
Performers: Anne Acker, harpsichord; Marcy Brenner, viola da gamba; Jeana Melilli, baroque flute; Erika Skye Andres, baroque flute; Ann Cafferty, baroque violin, Tina Zenker Williams, soprano; Kyle Siddons, baritone.
