  • Welcome to “well, That’s Show Biz!”. I am your host, Jeremy Freedman, and every week I bring you music from Broadway, Movies, and Entertainers along with some anecdotes, information, and commentary all based on a theme. Back in July, we did a show based on duets. I think it is time to do a show of trios.

  • We are going to open our first set with Sheryl Lee Ralph, Loretta Devine, and Jennifer Holliday singing the title song from the broadway show “Dreamgirls”. We are going to follow that with Zero Mostel painting a “Pretty Little Picture” to Brian Davies and Preshy Marker from the original cast of A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to the Forum. Then Carole Bishop, Nancy Lane, and Kay Cole bring us “At The Ballet” from A Chorus Line. And our last trio from this set will be Rico Froehlich, Arthur Rubin, and John Henson singing “Abbondanza” from The Most Happy Fella. Here’s Dreamgirls.

  • You just heard the title song of “Dreamgirls”, “Pretty Little Picture” from A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to the Forum, “At The Ballet” from A Chorus Line, and “Abbondanze” from The Most Happy Fella as we look at Trios on this edition of “well, That’s Show Biz!”.

  • You are listening to Trios on this edition of “well, That’s Show Biz!” on [station ID].  We are going to start off set 2 with Elizabeth Stanley, Angel Desai and Kelly Jeanne Grant singing “You Can Drive a Person Crazy” from the 2006 revival of Company. This was the revival where the actors also played the instruments. I wanted to play the 2018 London revival version but they throw in a word that the FCC would not be happy with. I encourage you to seek out that terrific version. Then Liz Callaway, Beth Fowler, and Catherine Cox are each expecting a child and meet in the doctor’s office to sing “I Want It All” from the Broadway cast of Baby. And finally, Dorothy Loudon, Robert Fitch, and Barbara Erwin sing “Easy Street” as they plot against Annie. Here’s “You Can Drive a Person Crazy” from Company.

  • You just heard “You Can Drive a Person Crazy” from Company, “I Want It All” from Baby, and “Easy Street” from Annie as we look at Trios on today’s edition of “well, That’s Show Biz!” on WRUU 107.5 in Savannh.

  • Opening our third set of Trios are Marlene Danielle, Jennifer Leigh Warren, and Sheila Kay Davis, the greek chorus from Little Shop of Horrors with the title song. Then, Mimi Turque, Robert Rounseville, and Eleanor Knapp sing of how “I’m Only Thinking of Him” from Man of La Mancha. After that, Chita Rivera, Paula Kelly, and Shirley MacLaine sing “There’s Gotta Be Something Better Than This” from the movie soundtrack of Sweet Charity, and finally the song “Near to You” from Damn Yankees was originally a duet between the characters Joe Hardy and Meg Boyd. The 1994 Broadway revival added the character Joe Boyd, Meg’s husband, who had been transformed into Joe Hardy. Don’t be afraid to cry when you hear the haunting harmonies of Dennis Kelly, Jarrod Emick, and Linda Stephens. But first, here’s “Little Shop of Horrors”.
