Welcome to “well, That’s Show Biz!”. I am your host, Jeremy Freedman, each week I bring you music from Broadway, Movies, and Entertainers along with some anecdotes, information, and commentary all based on a theme. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate.
I am coming to you live this Christmas Day and we are going to start our Christmas Show with the classic song from Mame, “We Need a Little Christmas” which actually occurs in the show a few weeks BEFORE Christmas. And we are going to follow that with the Christmas themed song “Turkey Lurkey Time” from the musical Promises, Promises. Next, Vince Guaraldi was hired to write the music for an animated movie about Charlie Brown and created their signature theme, “Linus and Lucy” used in all future Charlie Brown movies as well as their memorable sound. From my favorite Christmas animated show we are going to hear “Christmas Time Is Here” from A Charlie Brown Christmas. Then, Meredith Wison is more famously known for his musicals The Music Man and The Unsinkable Molly Brown. But he also wrote the music to an adaptation of Miracle on 34th Street called Here’s Love. From Here’s Love, we are going to hear the song “Pine Cones and Holly Berries” in which Wilson incorporates is Christmas tune :It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas”. And finally in Set 1, we are going to hear Andrea McArdle and the cast of Annie singing “A New Deal for Christmas”. Here’s Angela Landbury and the cast of Mame with “We Need a Little Christmas”.
You just heard “We Need a Little Christmas” from Mame, “Turkey Lurkey Time” from Promises, Promises, “Christmas Time Is Here” from A Charlie Brown Christmas, Pine Cones and Holly Berries” from Here’s Love, and A New Deal for Christmas from Annie as we celebrate Christmas Day on “well, That’s Show Biz!”

It’s Christmas Day and I would like to introduce you to a wonderful winter song. My singing partner, Danny Adlerman, and his wife Kim are award winning children’s book authors and Danny has also won awards for his children’s songs. Before I met him, he wrote this beautiful winter song “Two Sets of Footprints” which is on his album titled …and a Happy New Year. Joining him on the song are Kurt Reil and Peter Horvath. I was supposed to be in the video of the song but I had to decline due to a family situation. After that, there was never a soundtrack recording of the movie of White Christmas because costar Rosemary Clooney’s record company would not allow her to appear on another company’s record. Instead a selections from album was produced with Peggy Lee singing Rosemary’s songs. We are going to hear Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, and Peggy Lee sing “Snow” from this album with Trudy Stevens who dubbed Vera Ellen’s singing parts. We will follow that with composer Frank Loesser singing his song “Baby It’s Cold Outside” which he originally wrote for him and his wife to sing at parties. And we will conclude this set with one of my favorite songs of many from Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, “The Most Wonderful Day of the Year”. Here’s my friend and musical partner Danny Adlerman with “Two Sets of Footprints”.
