Mayor Van Johnson joins us in a pre-recorded interview remote from the National League of Cities’ City Summit 2022. Mayor Johnson joined 3,000 local leaders from across the country to Kansas City for a three-day conference, November 17—19. Mayor Johnson joined the first NLC City Summit in 3 years with other members of Savannah City Council at the National League of Cities (NLC) City Summit in Kansas City. More than 3,000 local leaders from across the country attended to discuss solutions to a wide range of issues facing cities, including public safety, mental health, immigration, infrastructure, and climate change. City Summit includes more than 40 workshops focused on a variety of pressing issues local leaders are facing in their communities: Political Incivility, Housing Affordability, Sustainability, Workforce Development, Innovation & Technology. The Summit included a convening of Mayor's across the country, NLC and Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas will be hosting a press conference on November 17 from 1—1:30PM ET at the Kansas City Convention Center, including NLC President, Mayor Vince Williams of Union City, GA; NLC First Vice President, Mayor Victoria Woodards of Tacoma, WA; and NLC Second Vice President, Councilmember David Sander, Rancho Cardova, CA.
