  • Welcome to “well, That’s Show Biz!”. I am your host, Jeremy Freedman, and each week I bring you music from Broadway, Movies, and Entertainers along with some anecdotes, information, and commentary all based on a theme.

  • Today is Father’s Day so today’s show celebrates all types of fathers, Biological father’s, Step-Fathers, Adoptive Fathers, and Father Figures. Today we will hear songs sung by fathers, to fathers, and about fathers.

  • We are going to start off with the delightful “Fatherhood Blues” from the musical Baby about 3 different couples expecting a child.  This version is from the new Off-Broadway cast recording. Next, we will hear “To Break in a Glove” from Dear Evan Hansen, as Conner’s father gives Evan the baseball glove that he was going to give to Conner. Then we will hear John Cullum sing the beautiful lullabye, “Papa’s Gonna Make It Alright” from Shenandoah. And we will end the set with Barbra Streisand singing her prayer to her deceased father, “Papa Can You Hear Me?” from Yentl. Here’s the delightful “Fatherhood Blues” from Baby.
