Diez planetas is a collection of sci-fi short stories by award-winning author and Tulane creative writing and literature professor Yuri Herrera, originally from Actopan, Mexico. Translated into English by Emory University’s Lisa Dillman, Herrera’s visions of other worlds (or other species’ visions of our own) contemplate the vicissitudes of language, bodies, and society and the ways in which we connect with, cross, and sometimes condemn one another. This week, Leigh, P. T., and Dr. C examine the strange-yet-somehow-always-familiar worlds and worldviews of Herrera’s earthlings and aliens.
