  • Welcome to “well, That’s Show Biz!”. I am your host, Jeremy Freedman, and each week I bring you music from Broadway, Movies, and Entertainers along with some anecdotes, information, and commentary all based on a theme.

  • This is the second of a series of shows that we started back in May based on the Seven Deadly Sins. The first show highlighted the sin of Lust. In this show we will highlight the sin of Pride. But this is a different Pride from what we celebrated in June. That definition of Pride was about living one’s authentic self and being proud of who you are and was always meant to be. The Sin of Pride is based on a different definition of Pride. It is more a sense of false pride, braggin; Hubris or excessive pride, if you will. This type of Pride can lead to one’s downfall.

  • We are going to start with John Cullum, as theater impresario Oscar Jaffe from On The Twentieth Century, singing “I Rise Again”. It is Oscar’s inflated ego and narcissism which is his flawed character trait. We will then hear Ethel Merman and Ray Middleton compete with “Anything You Can Do” from Annie Get Your Gun. Next, Mary Martin, as Peter Pan, brags in “I’ve Gotta Crow”. And finally, Josh Gad, Luke Evans, and Company sing about “Gaston” from the Live-action movie version of Disney’s Beauty and The Beast.  Here’s “I Rise Again” from On The Twentieth Century.

  • You just heard “I Rise Again”from On The Twentieth Century, “Anything You Can Do” from Annie Get Your Gun, “I’ve Gotta Crow” from Peter Pan, and “Gaston” from Beauty and The Beast as we listen to songs that highlight the ‘Deadly Sin” of Pride on this edition of “well, That’s Show Biz!”.

  • This is the second in a series highlighting the Seven Deadly Sins, and we are looking at the sin of Pride, Hubris. We are going to start off the second set with Jerry Orbach singing “Razzle Dazzle” from Chicago. Then we are going to hear the evil queen from Once Upon a Mattress brag about her “Sensitivity”. Next the song “When You Got It, Flaunt It” from Mel Brooks’ The Producers. And we will close out this set with Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells singing “You and Me (But Mostly Me)” from The Book Of Mormon.  Here’s Chicago’s “Razzle Dazzle”.

  • This the second in a series of shows based on the 7 Deadly Sins and we are looking at the sin of Pride today. The sin of Pride is about hubris, excessive Pride, and bragging, which is different from celebrating one’s authentic self which is what June’s Pride Month celebrations were all about.

  • To open our third set, we have Ronald Holgate, as General Milos Gloriosus, from A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum singing “Bring Me My Bride”. Next, Priscilla Lopez sings the Jerry Herman song, “The Best In The World” from A Day In Hollywood / A Night In The Ukraine. Then, Robert Goulet, as Sir Lancelot, sings “C’est moi”, It is I, from Camelot. And finally, Jonathan Groff, as King George III, sings “You’ll Be Back” from Hamilton. Here’s “Bring Me My Bride” from Forum.
