Four Centuries of Great Music July 16, 2023 Full Body Orgasmic Scream Episode 7

Today on Four Centuries of Great Music we are continuing our series of episodes entitled Full Body Orgasmic Scream - the title coming from as I explained that back in March of this year there was a cry that come out at a Los Angeles Philharmonic concert during a concert of Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony which was described as a Full Body Orgasmic Scream.  I am sure you have not let out a full body orgasmic scream during a concert but I am also sure there are classical music works that make you tingle all over and that is what I am presenting as part of this series.  Today we are focusing on works for violin, both violin solo and for violin and orchestra.  We open with - you guessed it - Tchaikovsky, that is Tchaikovsky:  Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35.  I know that first movement gives me chills and tingles all over.

Next is a work that I only recently discovered at a concert at the Savannah Music Festival and then it has been released twice recently, once by violinist Tessa Lark and just this past Friday by  violinist Hillary Hahn

Felix Mendelssohn: Violin Concerto in E minor Op.64

Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto is a work I have been listening to since I was a young child and have gotten tingles all over my body each time I listen to that opening movement
It is in 3 movements:
I. Allegro molto appassionato
II. Andante
III. Allegretto non troppo – Allegro molto vivace
