  • Welcome to “well, That’s Show Biz!”. I am your host, Jeremy Freedman, and every week I bring you music from Broadway, Movies, and Entertainers along with some anecdotes, information, and commentary all based on a theme.

  • Today’s theme is Musical Instruments, songs about a musical instrument or songs with at least one musical instrument mentioned in the lyrics.

  • We are going to open the first set with the song “Come Follow the Band” from the Broadway show Barnum. Next we are going to hear Barbra Streisand sing “Cornet Man” from Funny Girl. Then Judy Garland will sing Irving Berlin’s “I Love a Piano” which was featured in the movie Easter Parade. And for the final song in this set, see if you can figure out the, before he was famous, singer singing “Dream Drummin’” from 1974s Over Here! A musical with a score by the Sherman Brothers who were better known for writing the score to Mry Poppins. Here’s the cast of Barnum with “Come Follow the Band”.

  • We are listening to songs that mention musical instruments today and you just heard “Come Follow the Band” from Barnum, “Cornet Man” from Funny Girl, “I Love a Piano” from Easter Parade, and did you figure out that that was a before he was famous John Travolta singing “Dream Drummin” from Over Here!?
