On this show, we discussed the consequences of designating a group of people as "the other":  as less than human, such as the American indigenous people, enslaved people in the USA, migrants, and incarcerated persons.   The American settlers dehumanized the indigenous populating, justifying land theft, genocide and placement in reservations.  Africans brought to the Americas were dehumanized in order to justify buying and selling them and enslavement as property of others.  Today, incarcerated people and migrants seeking asylum are being dehumanized, justifying keeping them in cages and/or cells.  This dehumanizing groups of people leads to inequality and injustice.  At the end of the show, we asked:  how do we reason our way to a more just society.
