  • Welcome to “well, That’s Show Biz!”. I am your host, Jeremy Freedman, and each week I bring you music from Broadway, Movies, and Entertainers along with some anecdotes, information, and commentary all based on a theme.

  • This is the fifth in a series of shows based on The Seven Deadly Sins. Back in May we started it off with Lust. In July, we did Pride. Sloth was the sin in August. And in September we hit Envy. With all the eating that we did on Thanksgiving and with the anticipation of more eating to come for Christmas and New Year’s, it is appropriate that we focus today’s Sin on Gluttony, over eating. Now there are not too many songs about excessive eating so we are going to also focus on food in general.

  • Oliver Twist asked for more, more gruel. He and the other orphans dreamed of “Food Glorious Food”. We will then hear Audrey II, from Little Shop Of Horrors, demand “Feed Me (Git It!)”. Next, Patti Lupone, as Mama Rose, sings “Have an Eggroll, Mr. Goldstone” from Gypsy. And finally we will hear “Abbondanza”, an abundance, from The Most Happy Fella. Here’s “Food Glorious Food” from Oliver!.

  • We are looking at the Sin of Gluttony today and you just heard “Food Glorious Food” from Oliver!, “Feed Me (Git It!)” from Little Shop Of Horrors, “Have an Eggroll, Mr. Goldstone” from Gypsy, and “Abbondanza” from The Most Happy Fella.

  • This is the 5th show in a series on The Seven Deadly Sins and we are looking at Gluttony today and food in general. We are going to start off our second set with Irene Cara and the cast of the movie Fame singing and dancing to the “Hot Lunch Jam”. Then we will hear “Sara Lee” from the revue And the World Goes Round which showcases the songs of Kander & Ebb. Next the original cast of Flower Drum Song sings about “Chop Suey”. And finally, we will hear about “Piragua”, a sweet icy dessert from In The Heights. Here’s “Hot Lunch Jam” from Fame.

Then we are going to hear all of the Disney princesses declare that “All I Wanna Do Is Eat” from the Off-Broadway show Disenchanted. And finally, Snoopy sings about “Suppertime” from You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown. Here’s “God, That’s Good”.
