January 30, 2024 Art: The Medium and the Message

Art is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination.  It takes many forms, such as visual, music, dance, comedy, literature, media storytelling, cartooning, graffiti, crafts, and more.  Its products are appreciated for their beauty, emotional power, and message.  Some examples of art that conveyed messages are the folk songs of the 1960s and rap today, the works of Pablo Picasso and Salvatore Dali during the Spanish Civil War, and the graffiti of Banksy, and the comedy of George Carlin.  Bill Cooper, one of Savannah's top stand-up comics joined us in studio for a conversation about art and how it is so effective at messaging.  Instead of lecturing about a topic, art draws you in and the message comes with it.   We also talked about cooking as an art practiced by those who cook creatively.    Bill even threw in a few jokes for us.  Jokes that made us laugh.

Our next show on February 6 will be a tribute to Bob Marley, who would have celebrated his 79th birthday on that date.  His music came from his life; its messages of love, hope, redemption, woven into the rhythm and lyrics of his songs.  Please listen live or on the internet beginning at 11 am and continuing to 1 pm.
