April 2, 2024 Beyond Censorship to Truth
The USA military understood the power of words. That is why they advocated for passage of the Espionage and Sedition Acts of 1917 and 1918. They understood that words could sap the fighting will of the USA soldier. Ask yourself this: if the fight were justifiable, why would we need to stifle words to the contrary? In the mid-1950s, the CIA carried this understanding to a new level, embedding agents in the media and the media in the CIA to promote their agendas. Ask yourself this: if the CIA agendas were justifiable, why was it necessary for them to put their words in the mouths of the journalists?
In 2024, the USA is using the 1917 Espionage Act to punish a journalist named Julian Assange for publishing truth about USA war actions in Iraq. Ask yourself this: if the USA war actions were justifiable, why are we punishing the messenger revealing these actions?
In 2024, the State of Georgia is using the Espionage Act to charge Cop City protestors with domestic terrorism. Ask yourself: if these protestors are using their Constitutional rights of speech and assembly to bring attention to this project, why must we punish them for their actions?
If the truth will set you free, ask yourself this: why to we use censorship to stop words from being written and said? Why do we punish those who use those words?
On Voices of Reason, we welcome you to put on your thinking caps, seek sources of truth, and use these truths to analyze facts and use reason respond to the world around us.
