“Well, That’s Show Biz!”

3-30-2025

  • You are listening to [Station ID].

  • Welcome to “well, That’s Show Biz!”. I am your host, Jeremy Freedman, and this is the show that brings you music from Broadway, Movies, and Entertainers along with some anecdotes, information, and commentary all based on a theme.

  • Next week is my 3rd Anniversary Show, starting my 4th year at WRUU hosting “well, That’s Show Biz!”. So today is the final show of my third year. Finales is the theme. And I thought it might be cool, knowing that my Anniversary theme has been Opening Numbers, to have today's show of Finales be mirrored by next week’s Opening Numbers from the same musicals in the exact order of today’s musicals.

  • We are going to start today’s show of Finales with the reprise of “A Night In the Ukraine” from A Day In Hollywood/A Night In the Ukraine. We will follow that with the “Finale” from Les Miserables. After that we will hear Robert Kline singing “Fill In the Words” from They’re Playing Our Song. And we close out this first set with the “Finale” from the original production of On A Clear Day You Can See Forever. Here’s the reprise of “A Night In the Ukraine”.

  • For our second set of finales, we open with Dean Jones singing “Being Alive” from Company. We will follow that with Hugh Jackman singing the “Finale: I Go To Rio” from The Boy From Oz. And we will conclude this set with the original Mama Rose, Ethel Merman, and “Rose’s Turn” from Gypsy. Here’s “Being Alive” from Company.
