January 28, 2025: Disaster Relief

Voices of Reason welcomed James Wood of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Kam Mitchell of the Small Business Administration to talk about resources available to Georgians in 63 counties that were impacted by Tropical Storm Debby and Hurricane Helene, including Chatham County.   There is a deadline to apply for this assistance of Friday, February 7 and James and Kam urged people who sustained injuries to themselves and their properties to apply, including those who applied and were denied.  FEMA can be reached at FEMA.gov, disasterassistance.gov, and 800-621-3362.  SBA Disaster Recovery can be reached at sba.gov/disaster or 800-659-2955 no later than Friday, February 7.

In the second hour, we began a discussion of the Executive Orders issued by President Donald Trump since taking office on 1/20/25 and the impact of these Orders on our lives and our communities.

Next week, in honor of Ground Hog Day on 2/2, we ask:  If you were given a do-over as was the case with cynical television weatherman Bill Murray covering the annual Ground Hog Day event in Punxsutawney, PA, who becomes trapped in a time loop, forcing him to relive February 2 repeatedly in the 1993 classic, what would you do?
