February 4, 2025: Presidential Executive Orders

On Voices of Reason, co-hosts Two and Barbara discussed more presidential Executive Orders issued since 1/20/25, particularly the Executive Order to remove all persons living in the USA without legal status.  Per this Order, the Department of Homeland Security's Integration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers were tasked with identifying, detaining and deporting all undocumented individuals to their countries of origin.   Immigration raids have begun, including in Savannah, and Mayor Van Johnson has said he will not order his police officers to participate in these raids.

Migrant Equity Southeast is distributing educational materials explaining that the USA Constitution is the law of the land and Amendments IV and V of the Bill of Rights require a warrant to enter your home and give you the right to remain silent and not answer questions if ICE comes to your door.  Members of the Savannah community are also being asked to report ICE raids to Migrant Equity at 912-429-7951.
