Welcome to “”well, That’s Show Biz!”. I am your host, Jeremy Freedman, and this is the show that brings you music from Broadway, Movies, and Entertainers along with some anecdotes, information, and commentary all based on a theme.
<Play “Why Am I Me?>
You just heard “Why Am I Me?’ from Shenandoah which is appropriate for today’s theme. Today is National I Am Day and so to celebrate we are playing I Am songs. These are songs that establish a character’s personality, role in the plot, and/or motivations right away.
We are going to open our first set with Jim Dale declaring he’s “The Prince of Humbug” from Barnum. We will follow that with Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells singing “You and Me (But Mostly Me)” from The Book of Mormon. Then we will hear the original, Ethel Merman, sing “Some People” from Gypsy. And we will conclude this set with the title song from Little Me. Here’s “The Prince of Humbug” from Barnum.
