Contemporary Classics June 24, 2025 Sarah Cahill and Regina Myers and the Celebration of Terry Riley's 90th Birthday
Tonight is the 90th birthday of composer Terry Riley and I am celebrating the event here on on Contemporary Classics with a visit from pianists Sarah Cahill and Regina Myers. Back in 2017 Sarah and Regina released an album Eighty Trips around the Sun which featured music for piano by Terry Riley and music written in his honor by others. An we will be featuring the music from that album by Terry Riley tonight. Also back in April of this year both Sarah and Regina were featured on an EP entitled “Up” with a piece by composer D. Riley Nicholson. And we will close the episode with this piece.
