  • You are listening to [Station ID].

  • Welcome to “well, That’s Show Biz!”. I am your host, Jeremy Freedman, and each week I bring you music from Broadway, Movies, and Entertainers along with some anecdotes, information, and commentary all based on a theme.

  • Today’s show was pre-recorded.

  • <Play “(You’re) Timeless To Me”>

  • You just heard “(You’re) Timeless To Me” from the musical Hairspray, an appropriate song for the third Sunday in September, as today is Wife Appreciation Day. We will be playing songs about wives, to wives, and by wives.

  • To open our first set, we have two songs from 1776. First we have the song “Yours, Yours, Yours” which is based on a series of letters between John Adams and his wife Abigail. Then we have “He Plays the Violin" as Martha Jefferson, played by Betty Buckley, sings about her husband Tom. We will follow that with two songs from the two person musical I Do! I Do!. First, Robert Preston sings “I Love My Wife” then he duets with Mary Martin on “My Cup Runneth Over”. Here’s “Yours, Yours, Yours” from 1776.

  • Today is Wife Appreciation Day and you just heard “Yours, Yours, Yours” and “He Plays the Violin" both from 1776 and “I Love My Wife” and “My Cup Runneth Over” both from I Do! I Do!.

  • For our next set for Wife Appreciation Day we have Zero Mostel asking “Do You Love Me?” from Fiddler on the Roof. Then we have the title song from the backers audition recording of I Love My Wife. And we will finish with Lauren Bacall and Marilyn Cooper singing “The Grass Is Always Greener” from Woman of the Year. Here’s “Do You Love Me?” from Fiddler on the Roof.
