December 9, 2025: President for a Day, Part 2
VoR's four co-hosts, Rose, Opollo, Robo and Barbara continued the conversation this week. On our lists were:
- demilitarize the USA
- abolishing ICE and provide pathways to citizenship for undocumented individuals (and maybe even abolish the Department of Homeland Security)
- provide a massive investment in affordable housing for all, de-comidify housing
- pay workers living wages, including and especially those in the service industry
- abolish the IMF and World Bank
- restructure the tax code
- institute a policy of "de-growth," where less is made and what is made can be repaired and reused
- abolish the prison system
- redirect the trillions spent on the war on terror to provide for the needs of people
- reform the electoral system to provide for direct democracy, including one person/one vote, abolition of the Electoral College, and institute reforms such as recall unseating elected officials who do not fulfill campaign promises
On the next Voices of Resistance on 12/16, we will talk about how to make meaningful change and the organizations in Savannah committed to making these changes.
Listeners were reminded of the following events:
12/11: The Making of Taylor Square: 7p, Savannah Cultural Arts Center, 201 Montgomery St, presented by Gullah Geechee storyteller Sistah Patt Gunn
12/13: Ebenezer Creek Massacre commemoration: meet at Mailbox Cafe, Barnard Street between Anderson and Henry at 9 am to drive to the site in Rincon
