Evening Eclectic April 12, 2026 Walter Simmons talking about Nicholas Flagello

Tonight on Evening Eclectic we are doing a spin-off episode from a series of episodes that I have done on Four Centuries of Great Music.  Early last year after conversations with JoAnn Falletta of the Buffalo Philharmonic and Gil Rose of the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, talking about composers from the 20th century whose musical accomplishments have been swept aside by a focus on the avant-garde composers, I started a series on those composers.  This caught the attention of a person who wrote two books on this topic, musicologist Walter Simmons and we started to communicate about doing an episode of Evening Eclectic to do a deep dive into he music of one or more of these composers.  So tonight, I have invited Walter Simmons onto the show to talk about one of these composers, Nicholas Flagello, whose son and granddaughter who I happen to know.
