Mixtape

From Can to Coltrane, Simone to Sonic Youth, mixtapes transcend space and time. They tell stories, educate, transmit messages, communicate themes—their functions as varied as the people who create them. Mixtape presents music from a Gen X point of view, juxtaposing the laid-back and lively. Mixtape host, Sarah, utilizes the form in a number of ways: to connect disparate genres, create sonic biomes, and explore. Listeners might hear anything: Krautrock, hip-hop, grunge, jazz, classical, folk. It’s all about connection.

Sarah spent her formative high school years in Southwest Ohio listening to 97X – the future of rock and roll (R.I.P.) and Mama Jazz on WMUB. She logged time on MTV, especially late Sunday nights for 120 Minutes. At Ohio University, she spun indie rock on ACRN and hosted a jazz show for Ohio University Public Radio. She lives in Savannah with her son and works as a writer.
