Savannah Lexicon, July 4, 2017 Independence Day celebration
What better way to start your Independence Day celebration than with a spirited discussion of the history behind the American colony's transformation into true nationhood. My guest will be Dr. Christopher Hendricks, Interim Head of the Department of History at Armstrong State University. He's a scholar of colonial and revolutionary America and he'll enlighten us about the cultural and political landscape that ultimately ushered in the United States of America - including some misconceptions many Americans have about the document and the historical period. This should serve as an interesting and certainly timely precursor to all the food, music and fireworks to come later in the day.
