    Today on Four Centuries of Great Music we are featuring 3 symphonies form 3 different geographic regions and three very different composers but all completed within 5 years of one another.

    We open with the Symphonia Domestica, Op. 53, is a tone poem for large orchestra written by Richard Strauss  in 1898.  It is in 5 parts 1.  Introduction and Development of Principle Themes, 2. Scherzo, 3 Cradle Song, 4. Adagio and 5. Finale


    Next American composer Amy Beach’s Symphony in E Minor, Op. 32 “Gaelic” composed in 1894.  It is in 4 movements and these movements are I. Allegro con fuoco and II. Alla siciliana – allegro vivace; III. Lento con molto espressione and  IV. Allegro di molto


    Lets close today’s Four Centuries of Great Music with Brazilian composer Alberto Nepomuceno’s Symphony in G Minor composed in 1893 which is in 4 movements
     I. Allegro con enthusiasmo
    II. Andante quasi adagio
    III. Scherzo - Intermezzo - Scherzo
