Four Centuries of Great Music September 23, 2023 Recent Releases of the Music of Franz Schubert

There have been a lot of recent audio releases featuring the music of Franz Schubert and today on Four Centuries of Great Music we will be exploring works from some of those releases.

We open with Schubert’s Symphony #9 in C Major The Great.  It is in 4 movements
 I. Andante – Allegro, ma non troppo – Più moto
II. Andante con moto
III. Scherzo. Allegro vivace – Trio
IV. Allegro vivace


We open this second hour of recent Schubert releases with Sonata (Sonatina) for Violin and Piano in A minor, D. 385 (Op. 137, No. 2).  It is in 4 movements:
I. Allegro moderato 6. 48
II. Andante 7. 29
III. Menuetto (Allegro) 2. 13
IV. Allegro 4. 36

Next is  Schubert's String Quartet No. 1 in G Minor, D. 18.   It is in 4 movements:
I. Andante — Presto vivace
II. Menuetto — Trio
III. Andante
IV. Presto

We are closing today's Four Centuries of Great Music with two of FRANZ SCHUBERT:  4 Impromptus D 899.
